Yellow wood. A small tree from Southeastern USA, growing to 10 m (33 ft) or more high. As well as being a nitrogen–fixing legume, a yellow dye is obtained from the wood (hence the name), bees love the flowers, and the timber is valued for cabinet work and gun stocks. Likes a well drained soil and sun or light shade; hardy to -35°C. Stratification: SC. Number of seeds: 8.
